Press Releases

"Light ruby color. Powerful, pungent aromas of jammy blackberry, boysenberry and plum tinged by tobacco and espresso. Very sweet in the mouth, with a concentrated dark berry flavor that expands as the wine opens in the glass. Finishes inky, rich and long. Very impressive."

  • "Vacqueyras is a wine-growing AOC in the southern Rhône wine region of France. Vacqueyras is a historic village at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. It is well known for its wine and for Raimbaut de Vacqueyras, a 12th century troubadour. The village was a favorite of the famous 19th century actress Sarah Bernhardt. Vacqueyras received the A.O.C. Côtes du Rhône (CdR) Decree appellation in 1937. It could add its village name to the CdR Village status in 1990 and received its own appellation - A.O.C. Vacqueyras in 1995. Vineyards are located in Vacqueyras proper and the neighbouring village of Sarrians. About 1300 hectares are under cultivation with a yearly production of roughly 40,000 hl. Red and rosé wines are made from Grenache Noir, Syrah, Cinsaut and Mourvedre grapes, white wines from Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Bourboulenc." - en.wikipedia.org

  • Vacqueyras is always half Grenache, the rest is usually Syrah, Cinsaut and Mourvedre.

From WS: 89 Dark and lush, with cocoa, black currant and tar flavors giving way to loam and meat notes on the gripping finish. Solid, gutsy wine. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2007. 250 cases imported. –JM

Sounds like a perfect Holiday wine. My order coming through…
